MoveGPT Privacy Policy
(Last updated August 4, 2025)
1. Introduction
MoveGPT (“we,” “us” or “our”) operates a web application that helps customers connect with professional moving companies. We take privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and how we protect it. Our policy is designed to satisfy the requirements of the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and privacy laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Both Google and Apple require apps to have a clear and accurate privacy policy explaining what data is collected, why it is collected, with whom it is shared and how users can control their data.
2. Scope
This policy covers personal information collected through our website (trymovegpt.com), mobile application and related services (collectively, the Service). It does not apply to services provided by third parties that have their own privacy practices.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide directly
When you fill out our moving‑quote form or interact with our Service, you may provide the following information:
- Contact details: Name, email address and telephone number.
- Moving details: Current address, destination address (if known), preferred move date(s), size or type of move (e.g., apartment, house, office) and any additional notes you choose to include.
We collect only the data necessary to match you with movers; both Google and Apple discourage collecting unnecessary personal information.
3.2 Automatically collected information
Like most online services, our servers automatically record limited information when you visit our site. This may include your IP address, browser type and the date/time of your request. We use this data to protect the Service from abuse and ensure proper operation. We do not use cookies or tracking scripts for advertising or profiling. If we introduce cookies in the future, we will update this policy accordingly.
3.3 Information we do not collect
- Financial or payment information: We do not collect credit card numbers, bank account details or other financial data because we do not bill you for our Service.
- Sensitive data: We do not collect Social Security numbers, driver’s‑license numbers, biometric data, health information or other highly sensitive data. Our Service is strictly limited to facilitating moving quotes.
- Children’s data: Our Service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Google requires apps that target children to obtain verifiable parental consent. If you believe we have collected a child’s information, please contact us so we can delete it.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for purposes that are reasonably expected by the user, as required by Google Play’s User Data policies and Apple’s App Store requirements. These purposes include:
- Connecting you with movers. We use the details you provide to match you with up to three moving companies that serve your origin and/or destination. The movers receive your contact and moving details so they can contact you with quotes or requests for more information. We may receive compensation from movers for these referrals.
- Communicating with you. We may send you confirmations, reminders or updates about your move request. We do not use your contact information to send unsolicited marketing, newsletters or unrelated offers.
- Improving our Service. We may analyze aggregate, de‑identified data to understand how customers use MoveGPT and to improve our platform. For example, we might measure how many requests were submitted from a particular city to ensure adequate mover coverage. We never use this data to target you individually.
- Legal compliance and fraud prevention. We may process and retain information as necessary to comply with laws, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect users from fraud and abuse. Both Google Play and Apple emphasize that apps may use data for security and fraud‑prevention purposes.
We do not sell, rent or otherwise use your information for advertising or marketing campaigns. We also do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
5. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable (e.g., under the GDPR), we process your personal information based on:
- Consent. When you submit your details, you consent to our use of that information to connect you with movers. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 8).
- Performance of a contract. We need to process your information to provide the Service you request.
- Legitimate interests. We may process minimal data (e.g., IP addresses) to prevent fraud and ensure system security, balanced against your rights and expectations.
6. How We Share Your Information
6.1 Moving companies
We share your name, contact details and move information with up to three reputable moving companies so they can provide quotes. We require these companies to use the information only to respond to your request and to maintain privacy practices consistent with this policy.
6.2 Service providers
We may share data with trusted service providers who perform functions on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, email delivery or analytics. They are contractually obligated to safeguard your information and use it only to provide services to us.
6.3 Legal obligations
We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, court order or governmental request. We may also disclose data when necessary to enforce our agreements or protect the rights, property or safety of MoveGPT, our users or others.
6.4 Business transfers
If MoveGPT is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6.5 No sale of personal data
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third‑party marketers. Google Play policies require that any third parties with whom data is shared be disclosed. Our only sharing is with the moving companies and essential service providers described above.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service and to fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Google Play’s User Data policy requires a data retention and deletion clause. In practice:
- Move requests: We keep your moving request details for up to 90 days after we have connected you with movers. This allows us to assist with follow‑up questions and resolve any disputes.
- Aggregate data: We may retain anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes. This data does not identify you.
- Legal obligations: We may retain data longer if required by law or necessary to protect our rights (e.g., to comply with tax laws or prevent fraud).
- When we no longer need your personal information, we will delete it or anonymize it. If deletion is impossible (for example, because the data is stored in backups), we will securely store and isolate it from further use.
8. Your Rights and Choices
We respect your right to control your information. Under privacy laws and platform rules, you may:
- Access and correction. You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct any inaccuracies.
- Withdraw consent. You may withdraw your consent to our processing of your personal data at any time. Apple requires that users be able to revoke consent. If you withdraw consent, we will stop processing your data, but this may prevent us from providing the Service.
- Deletion. You may request that we delete your personal information. We will delete it unless we have a lawful reason to retain it (e.g., to comply with legal obligations). Apple and Google both require that privacy policies explain how users can request deletion.
- Opt out of communications. If we send you service‑related messages, you may opt out by following the instructions in those messages or contacting us.
You can exercise these rights by contacting us (see Section 12). We will respond to requests as required by law.
9. Security Practices
We implement technical and organisational measures to safeguard your information. Apple’s App Review Guidelines state that apps should use appropriate security measures to handle user data and prevent unauthorized access. Our security measures include:
- Encryption in transit and at rest. Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored using encryption.
- Access controls. Only authorized personnel and service providers have access to personal information. We use role‑based access and authentication.
- Firewalls and monitoring. We employ network firewalls, intrusion‑detection systems and regular security monitoring.
- Regular assessments. We perform periodic security audits to identify and address vulnerabilities.
Despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. Please use our Service in a secure environment and contact us if you suspect any issues.
10. International Transfers
We are based in the United States. If you are located outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. We implement safeguards, such as contractual clauses, to ensure adequate protection.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email. The updated policy will take effect when posted.
